Saratoga County District Attorney Brett R. Eby announced today that Gonzalo Paredes-Moscoso (DOB 12/20/1979) of New Britain, Connecticut was sentenced on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 to a term of incarceration in State Prison for one (1) to three (3) years following his convictions for Vehicular Assault 1st, as a Class “D” Felony in violation of penal law section 120.04(1) and Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, in violation of Vehicle and Traffic Law 1192(3), before the Hon. James R. Davis in the Saratoga County Court.

On January 20, 2026, Defendant Paredes-Moscoso pleaded guilty and admitted in Court his actions on the early evening of February 4, 2025, when he operated his vehicle while in an intoxicated condition on State Route 146 in the Town of Clifton Park and in so doing subsequently crashed into another vehicle at a high rate of speed, causing serious physical injury to the two victims in that vehicle. On that night, Defendant Paredes-Moscoso was traveling at a high rate of speed along Route 146 when his Dodge Ram slammed into the rear of a Ford Explorer being driven by Gary Conner and stopped at the intersection of Route 146 and Fire Road/I-87 ramp. The incredible force of the collision obliterated the rear of the Ford and catapulted it into the vehicle stopped directly to the front of the Ford, causing serious physical injuries to Mr. Connor and his wife, Carol, who was in the front passenger seat.

Defendant Paredes-Moscoso was not injured in this crash, and a subsequent investigation revealed that he had been drinking excessively before getting behind the wheel. A subsequent test revealed him to have a blood alcohol content of 0.20%, almost two and half times over the legal limit of intoxication.

At sentencing, the Court heard emotionally moving victim impact statements from Mr. Connor, who described the lifelong injuries that he and Carol will now have to endure and suffer as a result of Defendant Paredes-Moscoso’s actions, and specifically describing how his criminal conduct in choosing to drink alcohol and then operate a motor vehicle caused not only physical injuries to them, but lasting effects to their emotional and mental wellbeing. The victim’s daughter also spoke at sentencing and relayed the harrowing moments when, on her own birthday, she and her young children came upon the horrific crash scene and the fear, concern, and anguish that the Defendant’s actions had on her and her two children.  In imposing sentence, Judge Davis implored Defendant Paredes-Moscoso to reflect on his actions and the words of the Connor family, and to remind him that his actions could have caused a far greater tragedy.

In speaking on Tuesday’s sentencing, Saratoga County District Attorney Brett Eby commended the strength of the Connor family throughout the course of this matter and stated that “no family should have to suffer this kind of tragedy, let alone because of someone’s criminal choice to get behind the wheel while heavily intoxicated and cause a crash.” District Attorney Eby noted that while his Office was grateful to assist in bringing the Connor family some element of justice, this case is another incredibly tragic consequence of the senseless and completely unnecessary crime of driving while intoxicated.

District Attorney Eby recognized the efforts of Assistant District Attorney Robert V. Conklin, as well as Vehicular Crimes Bureau Chief Matthew R. Coseo, Investigator Mark Sauter and Crime Victim Specialist Mollie Benware.  Likewise District Attorney Eby thanked the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, and specifically Deputies Pergolino, Garcia and Breda for helping to ensure that justice was done.
