Saratoga County District Attorney Karen A. Heggen reports that Stephen A. Frank (DOB 10/29/1976) of Lake George, NY was sentenced on May 2, 2025 for to an aggregate of 8 1/3 to 25 years following a jury trial where he was found guilty of three (3) counts of Aggravated Criminal Contempt, in violation of New York State Penal Law Section 215.52, Class “D” Felonies; four (4) counts of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, in violation of NYS Penal Law Section 215.51,  Class “E” Felonies; and two counts of Assault in the Third Degree, Class ”A” misdemeanors.  The victim in this case was known to the defendant.

During a week-long trial in January 2025, a Saratoga County Court jury heard testimony from multiple witnesses regarding Defendant Frank’s actions that resulted in injuries to the victim on multiple dates.  He was also convicted of repeatedly violating orders of protection directing him to not violate a previously issued order.

The victim provided the court with a compelling statement at the sentencing hearing, describing how the defendant’s abuse had caused not only injuries to her body, but lasting effects to her emotional and mental wellbeing. The victim also spoke about similar effects that the defendant’s actions have had on two minor children- one of whom testified at the defendant’s trial.

Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen thanked the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, as well as all of those who testified at the trial and helped to ensure that justice was done.

“I want to commend the victim for her strength and courage throughout this year and a half long process which finally culminated with sentencing today,” said DA Heggen. “The sentence imposed in this case ensures that the victim and her children can finally feel safe again and serves as a reminder to the community that domestic abusers can and will be held accountable for their actions.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jennifer Pratt and Joseph Frandino, together with Saratoga County District Attorney Investigator Jack Barney.
