Ryan M. Jewett (DOB 04/14/1992), of Mechanicville, NY was sentenced today in Saratoga County Court before Saratoga County Court Judge James A. Murphy, III for his April 19, 2024 plea to Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child, in violation of New York State Penal Law Section 130.75, a “Class B” violent felony and Rape in the Second Degree, in violation of NYS Penal Law Section 130.30(1), a “Class D” violent felony. Judge Murphy imposed sentences that total 29 years incarceration in a state correctional facility, to be followed by 20 years of post-release supervision, and mandatory sex offender registration.
This conviction stems from an investigation by the Mechanicville Police Department that revealed that Defendant Jewett had contact with the child victim from the age of 9. The child victim courageously disclosed to the authorities the details of the abuse perpetrated by the Defendant, which led to law enforcement amassing significant evidence supporting the criminal charges, including digital evidence created by the Defendant which documented his abuse of the child.
In Court, the Victim bravely told the Defendant that he took their innocence, but they will not let his crimes negatively impact their future.
Defendant Jewett is also currently charged with Patronizing a Prostitute and Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child in Albany County Court for allegedly soliciting a 13-year-old to engage in sexual conduct with him for money and is alleged to have possessed numerous images of child pornography on his cellular phone.
“Today’s sentencing concludes a difficult and significant case for the victim, law enforcement and all those who supported the victim and their family. Judge Murphy’s sentence ensures that the victim will have time to grow to adulthood knowing the defendant will not be able to harm them again during their childhood” noted District Attorney Karen Heggen. “The thorough and dedicated efforts of Det. Sgt. Alexander Dunn and Chief William Rabbitt of the Mechanicville Police Department enabled the victim and the victim’s family to achieve justice in this matter”.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Meghan A. Horton and Andreanna Diliberto with the assistance and support of District Attorney’s Office Investigator Joseph Iwaniec.
