There will be a mock Driving While Intoxicated vehicle accident extrication exercise at the Waterford Halfmoon High School for 11th and 12th grade students on Friday, May 10th 2013 starting at 8:30 AM. The exercise will coincide the High School Prom which is scheduled that evening.
The exercise will open in the auditorium with a skit of a party with underage participants drinking alcohol. A bad choice will be made by someone, who drinks and then drives away from the party. There will be an accident and calls will go out to Police, Fire and EMS. At this point the student body will be allowed outside in the parking lot where a two car accident will be staged with injuries. The driver, who is not injured, will be arrested for DWI. EMS will be treating the injured. The Waterford Fire Department will do an on-scene extrication. Upon completion the students will return to the auditorium where a mock trial will be held with the assistance of Waterford Town Justice and the Saratoga County District’s Office.
It is important to send a message to all underage drinkers. Bad choices have bad consequences. Members of the media are encouraged to attend and assist us in publicizing this important message to not only the students in this school district but also other districts in the area.
