In light of the New Year’s holiday, Saratoga County Law Enforcement agencies will increase DWI enforcement tomorrow, December 31, 2021, through January 3, 2022. This effort by law enforcement reinforces the critical message that driving while intoxicated in Saratoga County is a dangerous, criminal act and will not be tolerated.
In conjunction with those state and local law enforcement agencies, the Saratoga County District Attorney’s office will increase DWI Enforcement throughout Saratoga County this weekend. The goal of this initiative is to prevent traffic-related crashes and deaths caused by impaired drivers.
Shawn Lescault, Vehicular Crimes Bureau Chief, said, “2021 is almost at an end. Do not add to the countless tragedies of this year by putting your life and anyone else’s life at risk by getting behind the wheel impaired. If you plan to go out on New Year’s Eve, have a plan to get home safely. Plan to take a free cab ride, or order an Uber or a LYFT. Plan to have someone stay completely sober to drive. Plan to keep yourself and others alive.”
District Attorney Karen Heggen stated, “Our Law Enforcement partners don’t take New Year’s Eve off. They will be out, keeping our roads safe, enforcing the vehicle and traffic laws, looking for impaired drivers. Impaired driving is not an accident, it’s a choice, and there is no excuse for this choice. You cannot drive safely while you are impaired. When celebrating this weekend, we encourage all Saratoga County residents to celebrate responsibly. Working together, we can help keep everyone safe on our roadways.”
