Saratoga County District Attorney Karen A. Heggen announced that Adrianne D. Liedel (DOB: 12/26/2001) of the Town of Milton, was arraigned on August 18, 2022 in Saratoga County Court on a six count Indictment. The Saratoga County Grand Jury returned an Indictment charging the defendant with the following offenses: Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree, New York State Penal Law Section 125.12(1), a class D felony; Vehicular Assault in the First Degree, NYS Penal Law Section 120.04(4), a class D felony; Vehicular Assault in the Second Degree, NYS Penal Law 120.03(1), a class E felony; Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law 1192(4), a misdemeanor; Assault in the Third Degree, NYS Penal Law Section 120.00(3), a misdemeanor; and Failure to Use Due Care to Avoid a Bicyclist, Pedestrian, or Domestic Animal, NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law Sections 1146(a) and (c)(1), a violation.
The Indictment alleges that on March 15, 2022, Defendant Liedel operated a motor vehicle while impaired by the use of cannabis and, in doing so, caused the death of a pedestrian and severely injured another. This incident is alleged to have taken place on Hop City Road in the Town of Ballston, New York, where both victims resided.
District Attorney Heggen noted, “The arrest of the defendant was the result of a lengthy investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. The return of an indictment by the Grand Jury in this case reflects the thorough and complete investigation done by our law enforcement partners at the Sheriff’s Office.”
The defendant was arraigned Thursday afternoon by Saratoga County Court Judge James A. Murphy, III. As this is a case involving the death of a victim, it is a bail-eligible offense. During the arraignment bail was set in the amount of $100,000 cash, $200,000 insurance bond and $1,000,000 partially secured bond.
