Saratoga County, NY — Saratoga County District Attorney Brett Eby announced today that Michele Schettino, a highly respected and seasoned prosecutor, will be promoted to Senior Bureau Chief. Schettino brings more than 24 years of prosecutorial experience to the role. She began her legal career in 2002 with the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office, where she served for eight years. During her tenure there, she advanced from Assistant District Attorney to Local Court Bureau Chief, and ultimately to Bureau Chief of the Special Victims Unit.

In 2011, Schettino joined the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office, where she has served the community for more than 15 years. In 2016, she was appointed as the County’s first Special Victims Unit Bureau Chief, a role in which she led a team of specialized prosecutors handling some of the most significant and sensitive cases prosecuted by the office. In recognition of her exceptional trial advocacy and dedication to justice, Schettino was named the New York State Prosecutor’s Training Institute Prosecutor of the Year in 2022. That same year, she was also honored with the Woman of Distinction Award from the New York State Assembly. Schettino has played a critical role in numerous high-profile convictions, including:

  • People v. Arthur Gannon, securing a guilty verdict after trial on multiple counts of Predatory Sexual Assault and Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, resulting in a sentence of 69½ years to life.
  • People v. Nathaniel Bradford, achieving a conviction after trial on multiple counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, with a sentence of 78 years to life.
  • People v. Marshall Gaudett, securing a guilty verdict on charges of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child and Rape, resulting in a sentence of 25 years to life.
