It is with deep sadness that the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office learned of the passing of Justice James Hughes.
Justice Hughes dedicated his life to public service. He served the people of Clifton Park as Town Justice for over 40 years, presiding over his courtroom with fairness, integrity, and a deep respect for the rule of law. Before taking the bench, he proudly served for over 20 years as a member of the New York State Police, continuing a lifelong commitment to protecting and serving his community.
Throughout his career, Justice Hughes earned the respect of law enforcement, attorneys, and all who appeared before him for his professionalism, and steady temperament.
On behalf of the entire Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the Clifton Park community. His decades of service and devotion to public safety will leave a lasting legacy.
